Background of the Dragon-Hunter Great Katana from Elden Ring

In the Realm of Shadow, introduced in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, the Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana is a fearsome weapon designed with a singular, brutal purpose: slaying the immortal ancient dragons. Discovered deep within the perilous Dragon's Pit, this massive blade is characterized by the jagged, gravel-stone protrusions lining its spine—the very material said to exploit the weakness of ancient dragon scales.

When wielded by a skilled Tarnished, the blade can unleash the devastating "Dragonwound Slash" skill, coating the steel in a jagged aura of gravel stone magic before leaping into the air to bring down a calamitous overhead strike. Both brutal and elegant, it stands as a testament to the legendary, bloody wars fought against the winged terrors of the Lands Between and beyond.
