About Genya Shinazugawa’s Nichirin Wakizashi from Demon Slayer

Genya Shinazugawa is a young Demon Slayer and the younger brother of Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira. Unlike most Demon Slayers, he is unable to use any breathing techniques, relying instead on his unique ability to gain demonic traits by consuming demon flesh, which temporarily enhances his strength and regeneration. To compensate for his lack of traditional combat skills, Genya trains himself in mental discipline through a technique known as “Repetitive Action,” allowing him to stay calm and focused in the heat of battle.

His Nichirin wakizashi is his primary close-quarters weapon, paired with a double-barreled shotgun for ranged combat. The wakizashi’s shorter blade suits Genya’s aggressive and unorthodox fighting style, making it effective for finishing blows when demons are within reach. This combination of shotgun and sword highlights Genya’s adaptability as a Demon Slayer, allowing him to fight effectively despite his inability to use standard breathing techniques.
