Background of Renji's Sword

Abarai Renji is a member of the Gotei 13, one of the armed forces of the Soul Society in the anime and manga series Bleach. His strength and leadership allowed him to advance within the ranks of the Shinigami, to eventually earn the prominent rank of lieutenant in the 6th Division. Renji is a skillful fighter and masterful swordsman who will eliminate anyone who gets in his way. His full power is sealed within his Zanpakuto sword.

The Zabimaru (trans. "Snake Tail") is the sword Renji uses while fighting for the Gotei 13. When released into its “shikai” form by the command “Howl,” his attack range extends and Renji can use this sword as a deadly whip. Because of its unique shape and abilities, the Zabimaru is regarded as one of the most difficult swords to master. The Zabimaru is a sword which has a unique bronze guard with a jagged design, long segmented blade and intricate wrappings on the handle.
