Background of Ciri
Ciri is the princess of Cintra and the granddaughter of Queen Calanthe, the legendary ruler of Cintra. She was linked to Geralt of Rivia before her birth, as she was claimed due to the Law of Surprise when Geralt saved her father’s life. After the fall of Cintra, Geralt took Ciri to Kaer Morhen, home of the Wolf School, to train to become a Witcher. After some time, Ciri unexpectedly began to manifest dangerous magical abilities. With the help of Yennefer of Vengerberg and other powerful sorcerers, she learned to control and harness her power.
Ciri wields the Zireael Sword, a silver sword forged by gnomes. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the sword is presented to Geralt by Master Ort, the craftsman, as a gift for Ciri. The name “Zireael”, translated from Elder Runes, means “Swallow”.
