Background of Mercy
Mercy, also known as Dr. Angela Ziegler, is a Support hero in the video game Overwatch. After her parents were killed during the Omnic Crisis, she decided to become a doctor and dedicate her life to fostering peace. After obtaining her degree, she discovered nanobiology that changed the face of the medical field. Impressed by her work, the commander of Overwatch recruited her to lead Overwatch’s medical research department. There, she created the Valkyrie suit, a combat medic apparatus, and went on Overwatch missions under the persona ‘Mercy’.
Mercy wields a Caduceus Blaster, an automatic sidearm that is capable of firing pinpoint rounds at close-range targets. As Mercy is primarily a healer, she only uses the blaster to defend herself in emergencies.
