Background of Kratos' Leviathan Axe from God of War

Forged by the legendary Huldra Brothers, Brok and Sindri, the Leviathan Axe was originally crafted for Laufey the Just (Faye) to restore balance to the realms and act as a direct counter to the destructive power of Thor's hammer, Mjölnir. Imbued with the echoing magic of frost, the axe can freeze enemies on impact and be magically recalled to its wielder's hand from incredible distances.

Before her passing, Faye entrusted the weapon to her husband, Kratos. Throughout his perilous journey across Midgard and eventually into the depths of Fimbulwinter, the Ghost of Sparta wields the Leviathan Axe to protect his son, Atreus, and battle the most formidable gods and monsters of the Norse pantheon. It stands not only as a brutal tool of war, but as a deeply personal symbol of Kratos's attempts to leave his bloody Greek past behind and forge a new, disciplined path.
