Background of Meliodas

Meliodas is the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Kingdom of Liones' strongest protectors in the anime and manga series Seven Deadly Sins. Failing to protect his lover Liz, the reincarnation of the goddess Elizabeth, Meliodas lost control of his emotions. In his wrath, he destroyed the kingdom of Danafor, gaining the title "Dragon's Sin of Wrath". As a member of the Demon clan, Meliodas is extremely feared by his enemies and other demons, as his full power is second only to the Demon King himself.

Meliodas wields Liz's Sword, which is reminscient to both a Roman Gladius and a Cinquedea (short sword from northern Italy). It has an intricate golden pattern on its sheath and a full 'bowl' shaped guard. A gift from Liz, this sword imbues Meliodas with incredible strength, but Meliodas refused the sword because he does not wish to kill. However, Elizabeth Liones convinces him that the sword is meant for him to move forward from his tramautic past and keep living to protect those who can't protect themselves.
